In the Installation “birdhouse musicbox” the connection between motion and sound is explored in a simple yet intriguing way. It uses a playful approach to shaping sound through the use of a simple interface – a swing hanging in a tree.
The visitor can rely on a highly familiar mechanism that is rooted in childhood experiences. By the meditative and repetitive movement a musical gestalt is generated and unfolds out of the chaos: notes reconnect, the velocity rises and eventually the musical fragments reassemble into the original track – a Fuge of J. S. Bach.
