We contributed to the first Future Cinema Event in Berlin and created an interactive Installation inspired by Alien’s protagonist “Ash”.
The Idea behind the Installation “Inside Ash” was to provide insight into android ash’s “thoughts” and “feelings” by setting up an interactive installation as part of the Future Cinema event. hands on sound extracted essential dialogue-fragments and images from the movie Alien and put them together in a claustrophobic and immersive manner. Audio and video samples were reconstructed and remixed in a room hidden behind Ash’s laboratory.
Selected people got into this room and experienced a digital psychogram through an audiovisual installation. Flashing lights, hissing sounds and the always present noises of liquids pulsating through the androids circuit formed an intense atmosphere foreshadowing Ash’s evil plans. The whole installation was interactive but always climaxed in a moment of total silence – just disturbed by Ash’s last words: “You have my sympathy”.
